Funny Story

In Funny Story by Emily Henry, children's librarian Daphne Vincent is completely blindsided when her fiancé, Peter, calls off their wedding after realizing he is actually in love with his lifelong childhood best friend, Petra. Stranded in the small lakeside town of Waning Bay, Michigan, with barely enough money to get by, Daphne finds herself moving into an apartment with the only person who can truly understand her heartbreak: Miles Nowak who happens to be Petra’s newly dumped, chaotic, and scruffy ex-boyfriend. Though the two are polar opposites and their initial living situation is deeply awkward, one tequila-fueled night changes everything when they hatch a plan to post deliberately misleading, fake-dating photos of their summer adventures to stir up trouble with their exes. However, as Daphne begins to see the charm in Miles and the idyllic town he loves, the lines of their petty social media scheme blur, forcing her to wonder if her relationship with Peter was just a prologue to her actual happily-ever-after.
